We need a new pedestrian crossing on Battlefield Road

Local residents have told us that crossing Battlefield Road in Shrewsbury is extremely dangerous and many say that a tragedy will happen sooner or later.

People need to be able to cross safely in order to get to the Park & Ride and the retail parks and bus stops. But local residents tell us that they have to wait a very long time to be able to cross the road here, and they often see people taking risks.

The situation is getting steadily worse and traffic will increase further when 98 new houses and commercial units are completed on the west side of Battlefield Road.

We want Shropshire Council’s Conservative administration to build a light-controlled pedestrian crossing on Battlefield Road between the junction of the A5112/Arlington Way and Battlefield Island.

The Shrewsbury Green Party is committed to fighting for safer streets for pedestrians of all ages. Keeping us from harm should be a council priority. Please join us as we fight for a better, safer Battlefield!

We the undersigned call on Shropshire Council to install a new light-controlled pedestrian crossing on Battlefield Road in order to keep pedestrians safe.
