Signpost pointing to the Wrong Way and the Better Way

Greens raise bar by publishing “Greenprint” for Shropshire 2029

19th March 2025

Shropshire Greens raise the bar on local politics by publishing their “Greenprint” for Shropshire in
2029.

The current and prospective Green Party Councillors in Shropshire along with the hundreds of
Green Party Members and supporters across the County have come together to set down what
could be achieved over the next Council term if the right decisions are made.

Called “Safer Streets, Cosy Homes, Greener Choices and a Better Say” the manifesto
explains that Shropshire is now at a crossroads. It can continue with parties that have failed
pursuing out-dated policies in a cycle of decline or it can take a new path to a better future.
Available on www.greenshropshire.org.uk the document identifies and explains twelve practical
and positive measures that will dramatically improve life in the County and take us a lot further
down the road to sustainability. Many of these ideas come from the direct experience of Greens
as Councillors in Shropshire, Shrewsbury, Oswestry and in many villages.

Announcing this publication, Cllr Duncan Kerr, Leader of the Green Group said “The election
has only just started and we have seen a lot of negativity. I understand that there is a lot to be
critical of, however, the Green Party is a positive party that believes we can, and should, aspire
to a better future. We have therefore put the work in and researched what is realistic and
achievable given the finances of Shropshire and found that there is still time to build that
positive future if residents make the right choice on May 1st.

We will be writing to the Leaders of all the other parties currently represented on Shropshire
Council urging them to also come clean and say precisely what their aspirations are over the
next Council so the electorate can make an informed decision on long term policies rather than
short-term gimmicks”.
