Wilfred Owen Green Litter Pickers Strike Again

17th March 2025

Oswestry Town Councillors organised another litter pick on Wilfred Owen Green and were joined by several members of the public.

Oswestry Town Councillors Olly Rose, Duncan Kerr and Stephen Froggatt organised another litter pick on Wilfred Owen Green and were joined by several members of the public. Together they collected 12 bags of rubbish which were then sorted for recycling with a lot of cans and bottles.

Commenting on the event Duncan Kerr said “It was sad to see so many cans and bottles. I volunteered in Uganda and if a tourist threw a can away it was immediately picked-up by a local as they were too valuable. A simple deposit scheme for bottles and cans would have the same impact here”.

Olly added “I’d like to thank all the volunteers who came. It was great to also talk to residents who litter pick when out on their walks. From May the Wilfred Owen Green Litter Pick will be held on the third Sunday each month starting at 2pm by the Cambrian entrance. All are welcome we provide all the necessary equipment”.
